The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) provides 3 different ratings - full-width frontal crash test , side impact crash test , and rollover resistance . The frontal crash test indicates how well the safety features and restraints will protect an occupant in a head-on collision. The side-impact test conveys the chance of a severe chest injury, while the rollover resistance rating estimates the risk of rolling over in a single vehicle crash. Overall Evaluation P
Structure/Safety Cage M
Injury Measures
Head/Neck M
Chest G
Leg/foot, left P
Leg/foot, right M
Restraints/dummy kinematics P
Important: Frontal crash test ratings can be compared only among vehicles of similar weight.
The Chrysler LHS was redesigned for the 1999 model year and the Chrysler 300M was introduced in the 1999 model year.
Dummy movement wasn't well controlled. The airbag deployed too late, and the dummy's head hit the steering wheel. Then the dummy's head continued to move forward, pushing the wheel against the instrument panel. During rebound, the dummy moved toward the driver door, and its head hit the B-pillar. Measures taken from the chest indicate low risk of injuries to this body region in a crash of this severity. High forces occurred when the dummy's heat hit the steering wheel, indicating that injuries to the head would be possible. Forces on both tibias indicate that injuries to the lower left leg would be likely and injuries to the lower right leg would be possible. Head acceleration from the B-pillar hit was low. 1999 Chrysler LHS 4-door 3585 none 113 208 74 3.5 L V6 18 27

Category: Review:
Summary:

Agile handling for a beautiful touring sedan.
By Mitch McCullough, Editor-in-Chief, NewCarTestDrive.com

Chrysler's LHS represents a big improvement over its predecessor. An elegant interior, solid acceleration performance and excellent handling complement eye-catching styling. With its roomy back seats and generous legroom, it can haul four people in comfortable, luxurious surroundings. Supremely smooth and stable at highway speeds, we could spend many miles in one of these, riding behind that handsome egg-crate grille.

Overview:

Chrysler's LHS offers an elegant design in a big luxury sedan that makes a statement of status and achievement. Fortunately, the distinctive design is backed up by the driving experience. The LHS is a joy to drive. It rides smoothly and handles remarkably well for a full-size front-wheel-drive sedan.
