The National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration (NHTSA) provides 3
different ratings -
full-width frontal crash test
,
side impact crash test
, and
rollover resistance
. The frontal crash test indicates how
well the safety features and restraints
will protect an occupant in a head-on
collision. The side-impact test conveys
the chance of a severe chest injury,
while the rollover resistance rating
estimates the risk of rolling over in a
single vehicle crash.

Description:

Vehicle Description: Passenger vehicles, hearse, and limousines. Some of these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of FMVSS No. 209, ""Seat Belt Assemblies."" These vehicles have seat belts that may not meet the 30-pound push button release effort requirement of the standard. High release efforts could make it more difficult for a crash victim to release the belt and exit the vehicle. Dealers will inspect the seat belts and, if necessary, modify the latch plates or replace the retractor. Dealers will also add ""snap on"" latch clips to eliminate the potential of inverted latch plate insertion. Owner notification is being conducted in phases. The first phase began May 29, 2001, and the second phase began July 6, 2001. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Cadillac at 1-800-458-8006.

New Car Test Drive Review
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Summary:
|
The latest technology with contemporary styling.
By Ron Moorhead, NewCarTestDrive.com
It has been a long while since we could, in good conscience, recommend a Cadillac. Now the wait is finally over and we can recommend any Cadillac. We knew it was getting closer each year, as Cadillac improved model by model. |
|
Overview:
|
When you first spot Cadillac's all-new DeVille you may mistake it for a Mercedes. But this will only last a moment. Quickly you will realize it is indeed a Cadillac. Yet it's like no Cadillac you've seen before. You may be slightly embarrassed that you made the mistake. You may even be embarrassed when you admit to yourself that you like the looks of this car. But there's no need for red faces here, for the new DeVille is worthy of your admiration. The DeVille has been totally redesigned and re-engineered for model year 2000. Cadillac says it has melded art and science into an automobile that is reduced in exterior dimensions yet offers an expansive, comfortable interior.
