The National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration (NHTSA) provides 3
different ratings -
full-width frontal crash test
,
side impact crash test
, and
rollover resistance
. The frontal crash test indicates how
well the safety features and restraints
will protect an occupant in a head-on
collision. The side-impact test conveys
the chance of a severe chest injury,
while the rollover resistance rating
estimates the risk of rolling over in a
single vehicle crash.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS
Description:
Some passenger vehicles equipped with 4.0 liter V8 engines have a condition in which the nylon tubing used in the fuel rail construction may degrade and crack. Additionally, the 1995 model year uses a unique underhood fuel return line that may crack at unusually high rates. Cracking of the fuel rail or return line tubing can result in a fuel leak into the engine compartment. Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the engine fuel rail with a new stainless steel fuel rail. Dealers will also install a revised chassis fuel return line. The recall began on June 2, 2004, for 1996-1997 Oldsmobile Aurora vehicles. Owners of 1995 Cadillacs and 1996-1997 Oldsmobile Aurora were sent letters on August 6, 2004. Additional letters to owners will be forthcoming. Owners should contact Oldsmobile at 1-800-630-6537.

The Electronic Brake Control Module or the Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module can cause the Antilock Brake System (ABS) to cycle during a non-ABS brake application. Dealers will replace the Electronic Brake Control Module or the Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module.

New Car Test Drive Review
Summary:
A thoroughly modern traditional.
By Tony Swan, NewCarTestDrive.com
Although this car operates in the luxury realm, its electronic sophistication and standard equipment make it one of the better values in autodom, and its new stability enhancement systems are right on the cutting edge. Whether it will actually attract folks who are shopping for cars like the Lexus LS 400, BMW 7-Series or S-Class Mercedes remains to be seen. But one thing seems clear. Thanks to the DeVille, in all its flavors, the full-size American luxury car tradition has a sophisticated new lease on life. |
Overview:
At a glance, the Cadillac DeVille looks like an anachronism. One look at its vast dimensions, two-ton curb weight and formal roofline suggests the bad old days--numb steering, football field stopping distances, and the agility of a gimpy water buffalo. But that's not the case, particularly with the DeVille Concours. Yes, the DeVilles--standard, Concours and the new d'Elegance edition--are designed to cater to folks who prioritize well-padded comfort and luxurious amenities over everything else. But these are far more capable Caddies than their bloated ancestors. Our DeVille Concours tester was equipped with Cadillac's new stability-enhancing electronic magic, as well as the myriad creature comforts that lend pleasure to long trips. We were pleasantly astonished by its capabilities, seduced by its amenities and impressed by its price.
