Toyota touts their RAV4 line as the crossover that started it all and, 20 years later and with a new electric option, the line is still going strong. The Toyota RAV4 aims to please with three available trims for 2014: LE, XLE, and Limited. All trims come standard with daytime running lights, color-keyed outside door handles, rear spoiler for a sportier appearance, privacy glass on the rear, side, and quarter windows, a rear window defogger with timer, and an acoustic noise-reducing front windshield that ensures a quiet ride no matter what.
The Toyota RAV4 LE is the base trim and comes with the standard features listed above. The XLE, a step up from the LE, offers exterior features like integrated fog lights, a chrome-accented grille with a silver-highlighted lower grille, heated outside mirrors with turn signal indicators and the ability to fold flat against the body, and a power tilt and slide sunroof. Though all of the Rav4s share the spacious interior, the XLE offers dual-zone automatic climate control with air filters, fabric-trimmed 6-way adjustable driver’s seat including sport bolsters and a safety belt pocket, and a cargo area tonneau cover.
Finally, the Limited is the high-end trim. It comes with some of the features and amenities listed above with a few extras you won’t find on the other models like a height adjustable power liftgate with jam protection, color-keyed heated power outside mirrors with turn signal and blind spot warning indicators, and 18-inch alloy wheels with P235/55R18 tires. The real jewel of the Toyota RAV4 Limited crown is the Entune App Suite. The Entune App Suite includes Bing, Facebook, iHeartRadio, MovieTickets.com, OpenTable, Pandora, Yelp, as well as real-time weather, traffic, sports, stocks, and fuel prices updates.
Other standard RAV4 features include power windows, remote keyless entry, illuminated entry, a rear cargo liftgate, body-colored bumpers, front reading lights, outside temperature display, a trip computer, and a low tire pressure warning.
The 2014 Rav4 received 4 out 5 stars for Overall rating as well as frontal crash and rollover by the NHTSA. The IIHS awarded it ratings of “Good" in side impact, rear crash, and roof strength. An available safety package for 2014 adds high-tech safety features like a lane-departure alert system, Auto High Beam headlights, a blind-spot monitoring system, and a rear cross-traffic alert system.
Standard safety features include brake assist, dual front and dual front side impact airbags, overhead, and occupant sensing airbags, as well as electronic stability, traction control, ignition disable, and a panic alarm.
