Model Overview

Mazda released the first 2-seater Miata in 1990, and with the exception of 1998, the vehicle has been produced each year since then. The first Miatas had pop up headlights that were prone to malfunction. Even still, the release of the Miata caused a stir and was a hit with all drivers who were sometimes willing to pay more than the sticker price to make a Miata their own. The Miata has won numerous awards over the years. Car and Driver magazine has awarded the vehicle honors as a "Top 10" vehicle for eight years straight. The first generation vehicle, produced until 1997, includes those pop-up headlights, while the second generation of cars began production in 1999 has exposed headlights. The third generation of Miatas began production in 2006, with none of the same features from prior models. This model was heavier, more powerful, and faster, going from 0 to 60 mph in just 7.5 seconds. You can get either a 5-speed or a 6-speed manual transmission, or let the 5-speed automatic do your shifting for you.

The Miata is available in five styles, including a convertible and a Power Retractable canopy version that debuted in 2007. The 2014 Mazda Miata start at $23,720 MSRP for the convertible basic and rise to $29,870 for the Grand Touring Miata.

If you are looking for a sports convertible with affordability, performance, and power, you should consider the Miata. It is nimble handles curves with ease. It won't offer a lot of interior room, but you probably knew that at a glance The dashboard is uncluttered and intuitive.

If you wait to make the purchase in the future, you should expect even more changes to the vehicle. This is because Miata will collaborate with Fiat for future models.
