Available since 2007, the compact-sized Jeep Patriot is an SUV with plenty to offer a used car buyer. The upcoming 2015 model offers a MSRP starting at $17,490, a bargain for a new feature-packed SUV. Three trim styles are available for the Patriot: the Sport (the base model), the Latitude and the feature-packed Limited. You have a choice of a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic (or optional continuously variable automatic). The 4-wheel drive mode is fine for gentle off road conditions, like a dirt road or grassy picnic area. If you are trying to get up a snowy driveway, the Freedom Drive II Off-Road Group package adds an extra-low "off-road" gear, all-terrain tires, and extra power for hill descent and start-up control, along with front and rear tow hooks and a spare tire at full size.
If you like options, the new Patriot certainly delivers. There are 9 different exterior color choices available for the SUV. Those color choices include True Blue Pearl, Rugged Brown, Deep Cherry Red Crystal Pearl, and Winter Chill Pearl.
While some reviewers knock the Patriot for having cheaper interior materials than competing models, the worst of it was replaced starting with 2009. The interior is a throwback to classic Jeep models like the Cherokee (basic not grand). The patriot is driver friendly and features comfortable seating for all passengers inside of the vehicle with a roomy back seat. Because of the vehicles rather narrow design, interior room isn't the best. Leather-trimmed seats may make up the difference.
Among the features available with the Patriot are 16-inch wheels that are standard with the Sport or the 17-inch alloy wheels that are standard with the Latitude and Limited editions, a remote USB port, four-speaker CD player/entertainment system, and a rear stabilizer bar. There’s plenty of space for storage on the inside and the SUV offers great towing capacities too. Other features that come standard on the with the Latitude and Limited models include heated seats, leather wrapped steering wheel, and automatic temperature control.
If you’re ready to buy a used Jeep Patriot, start your search with the 2011 model. This edition of the Patriot featured many upgrades to the first-generation vehicles. Those upgrades include a better suspension system, updated trim and exterior design, and a better sound system. The cost to own this model year is also great and most budgets can fit it into their expenses.
