Used Dodge Challenger: In Depth

Model Overview

The Dodge Challenger made its debut in 1970 as Dodge's contribution to what is referred to as the "pony race" of fast and powerful sports cars. The Challenger made quite a stir with its beautiful sleek design, luxurious features, and insanely powerful Hemi engine boasting a reported horse power to 475, although many thought that number to be grossly understated. It has always been a pretty car, with loads of power, competing in famous races, and driven by top notch drivers.

Sports car enthusiasts mourned the retirement of the Challenger, and simply buzzed with excitement when rumors of the Challenger's return started to circulate. The Challenger returned to the scene in 2007 amongst a roar of celebration with its classic lines and of course - that celebrated Hemi engine. Dodge affectionately refers to these cars as, "built by car guys for car guys," and has made a variety of fun options available to dress your Challenger up in vintage stripes that echo the historical designs of Challengers over the years.

With a fleet of eight cars that are divided into three basic classifications to choose from, the luxurious standard features and options vary from one group of cars to the next. You can scroll through a detailed list of the various standard features and options on the Dodge Challenger site.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded the Dodge Challenger with an overall five star rating with notations of safety concerns related to the rollover crash test, which received four out of five stars.

All of the Challengers are equipped with 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, driveline traction control, side impact beams, dual stage driver and passenger seat-mounted side airbags, as well as curtain airbags for the first and second rows.

I have been looking for a Dodge Challenger for a while so I found one with 1,100 miles. I used CARFAX to check the VIN but the CARFAX said the car was a corporate vehicle and was purchased in Maine and this guy was in Texas. Never heard from him again.
