Chevrolet Volt

Launched with the 2011 model year, the Chevrolet Volt has gotten a lot of press as one of the first plugin hybrids. Since it runs on electricity until it reaches a low battery point and switches to a gasoline engine, it is great choice for eco-friendly drivers. You alwasy have a choice to switch to gas powered mode to avoid being stranded away from your home charging station. The all electric range of the 2013 Volt increased to 38 miles based on EPA testing. There are a lot of 1-owner, accident-free Volts to choose from on Carfax.com.

Used Chevrolet Volt Reviews

2012 Chevrolet Volt
We bought the Volt for free HOT lane access, primarily use it to commute but find ourselves using it on the weekends too. Backward visibility is not great so consider the Premium version if it is important to you. MNC will fit in the back but you might have to slide the drivers or passenger seat Forward when installing it, but then you can just slide the seat back. Also you should try to get one with less than 25000 miles on it so you will still have the factory warranty and place for the first year (or so) that you own it. (We've owned ours for 6 months now with no trouble.) To help keep things in their place in the hatchback, Home Depot makes some collapsible storage containers with velcro on the bottom that, when installed, they fit perfectly and do not slide around.

2013 Chevrolet Volt

Went from PriusV to Volt because I wanted a more luxurious and more responsive vehicle than what the Prius could offer. 40 mile electric range covers my needs for daily driving, but have gas engine reserve to eliminate electric vehicle anxiety. Slightly used Volt for under $25k, and have not used a drop of gas all week. Really liked Prius, but this vehicle is a far superior value .
