Cadillac introduced the DTS, its full-size luxury sedan, in 2006 to replace the Cadillac DeVille. The DTS was discontinued in 2011. During its six-year run, the DTS was known for its standard V-8 engine, large size, luxury features, and reliability. Since its discontinuation, the DTS has served as the base model for limousines, hearses, and other service-oriented vehicles.
If you are looking for luxury features without the extra cost, the DTS comes standard with dual-zone climate control, auto-dimming mirrors, and leather-appointed seats. In addition, the 2011 Cadillac DTS comes standard with an eight-speaker CD/MP3 system. Upgrades to the Luxury trim include wood trim, optional blind spot monitoring, and touch screen navigation. Easy-to-read gauges and large controls are a perk for drivers who want a user-friendly experience.
The DTS exceeds most of the vehicles in its class in terms of storage capacity, with 19 cubic feet of cargo space. A middle seat pass-through comes in handy when storing long, bulky items. The vehicle also has great interior space, with an optional 40/20/40 split bench that seats six passengers. Reviewers cite ample legroom in both the front and back seats.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the Cadillac DTS four out of five stars for rollover. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's (IIHS) safety ratings for the DTS are mixed: "Good" for moderate overlap front, "Acceptable" for side impact, and "Marginal" for head restraints and seats.
The DTS is equipped with a long list of standard safety features, including a panic alarm, an emergency communications system, dual front side airbags, dual front airbags, overhead airbags, occupant-sensing airbags, perimeter approach lights, front fog lights, fully automatic, delay-off, and high intensity discharge headlights. Additional features include ignition disable, illuminated remote keyless entry, adaptive cruise control, speed-sensitive power steering, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and brake assist, low tire pressure warning, automatic leveling suspension, four-wheel independent suspension, electric stability, front and rear anti-roll bars, and traction control.
