Last summer while looking for a used car I found a nice-looking ’99 Tahoe at a small dealership. I drove the truck and the dealer assured me that the 135,000 miles on the odometer were accurate. He had a clean printout from the auction, but it was not a CARFAX. I only trust CARFAX. So, when I did run the CARFAX Report it showed the mileage was at 215,000 miles 8 years ago. So by now the truck could have easily had 300,000 miles on it, and I would have been stuck paying $3,500 for a truck that was worth maybe $1,000. Needless to say, I did not purchase that vehicle.
